Legislative library of Saskatchewan in addition to Government publications, this library has in its collection daily newspapers from around the province, newspaper clipping files, and Saskatchewan Local History books.

University of Saskatchewan library has an online catalogue, a holding of newspapers in print and on microfilm from various regions in the province, and additionally is home to the University Archives and Special Collections.  The digital collections are growing, and include for example postcards of early Saskatchewan communities in has an online catalogue and Saskatchewan History Online Saskatchewan and Prairie Studies .  The University Archives delves into the history of the campus as well as storing information on past students, alumni and professors.

The University of Regina library  library also has an online searchable catalogue, a holding of newspapers, and the University of Regina archives and special collections.  The archives also holds materials regarding its faculty, staff, and students.  The history of Saskatchewan is featured in special collections, alongside and within rare and one of a kind resources.

The Saskatchewan public library system is organized under the Saskatchewan Information Library Services Consortium.  SILS is divided into two municipal libraries and provides local library support with regional library systems. The library edition of Ancestry.com is available at the Saskatoon and Regina Branch Libraries.

The Saskatoon Public Library collection can be viewed in a digital searchable  library catalogue.  Saskatoon is the largest city in the province, and holds special collections for central and northern Saskatchewan in its main branch.  The main library which has microfilm copies of the historic Canada census and passenger lists is supported by branch libraries.   Additionally, the Saskatoon Public Library features the "Local History Room", which houses newspaper microfilms, Henderson City Directories, photographs, a clippings collection, regional local history books  alongside access to Ancestry Library Edition.  Check out the digitized local history databases searchable online. 


The Regina Public Library is the library situated in the capital city of the province with many branch locations.  The holdings are searchable online.  The Regina Prairie History Room features a dynamic and active blog, and features census records, city directories, passenger lists, newspapers, alongside access to Ancestry Library Edition.  The Prairie History Room features special, rare and one of a kind local history room, historical and genealogical materials.

Saskatchewan Genealogy Society SGS has their main Library and Research Room in Regina at its head office location.  The SGS supported the regional branches on their start up with resources pertinent locally to their area creating branch genealogical libraries.

The Western Development Museum features the George Shepherd Library featuring historical catalogues and books, Saskatchewan history, local history and resources.

Diefenbaker Canada Centre on the  University of Saskatchewan campus includes the personal library of former Prime Minister John G. Diefenbaker, and Diefenbaker's collection of John A. MacDonald fonds.  The library features cultural, first nation, genealogy, law, and political collections

Another library collection is the Germans from Russia Heritage Collection placed online by North Dakota State University Libraries.  The NDSU has a searchable library catalogue for those researching Germans from Russia and these ethnic bloc settlements in Saskatchewan.
